Football fans are destroying Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson after yet another awful performance in the team’s stunning 21-15 home loss to the New York Giants.
Deshaun Watson had another lackluster outing against one of football’s worst defenses, completing just 21 of 37 pass attempts for 196 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 21-15 loss. Though he can’t take all the blame, Watson was also sacked eight times by the New York defense.
Still, the Browns need more from a quarterback who signed a $230 million fully guaranteed contract after coming over via trade two years ago. Watson now has just 551 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions over Cleveland’s first three games.
With the Browns falling to 1-2 on the season, the internet wasted no time destroying the 29-year-old following Sunday’s forgettable outing:

The Browns defense will give them a chance to win most weeks. And once star running back Nick Chubb returns from injury, they’ll have an offensive nucleus of the Pro Bowl RB, Amai Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku.
So there’s no excuse for Deshaun Watson to be playing this lousy. Rust simply isn’t an excuse for the 2017 first-round pick, who put up MVP-like numbers on a much less talented Houston Texans team over his first four NFL seasons.
The Browns took a significant risk by selling the farm for Watson in 2022, and by willingly taking on the public backlash of a QB who was hit with 24 lawsuits that alleged sexual misconduct.
Browns Need To Bench Deshaun Watson
It is not a stretch to suggest that the Deshaun Watson trade may go down as the worst in NFL history. Watson has now had three seasons to prove himself in Cleveland, and he simply isn’t producing. Meanwhile, the Texans have emerged as an AFC powerhouse under young cornerstones CJ Stroud, Nico Collins and Will Anderson Jr.
Cleveland has one of the league’s best backups in Jameis Winston, who might actually take advantage of the star-studded supporting cast on offense. At some point, the Browns need to cut their losses on the Watson trade and give Winston a look behind center.
