This past week, lawyer Tony Buzbee and Rusty hardin started throwing jabs at each other after weeks of absolute silence.
Text messages and a recording show that a member of attorney Tony Buzbee’s team approached Watson’s defense to discuss “working things out” between the parties, according to ESPN.
“The text messages and recording reviewed by ESPN show a member of Buzbee’s team approaching Watson’s legal team to discuss “working things out” between Watson and the women who have filed the lawsuits.
Buzbee told ESPN on Friday that he was “the only one at this firm who has the authority to discuss settlement.”
The report came after Buzbee refuted a claim from Watson defense attorney Rusty Hardin, who said Buzbee had inquired about a settlement.
“Contrary to what Mr. Rusty says, we haven’t approached them to settle, ever,” Buzbee said on Instagram.

Buzbee told ESPN he is “the only one at this firm who has the authority to discuss settlement.”
Buzbee has since stated that many of his clients have spoken to the NFL as well as the Houston Police Department regarding Deshaun Watson.
