Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud’s status for Week 15 is shrouded in doubt as he is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
According to KPRC’s Aaron Wilson, the first-year star will not practice on Thursday, though he will have one more chance to do so on Friday, which should reveal a lot more as it pertains to his fitness ahead of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
The Texans have been having a torrid time with injuries lately. Having lost rookie wide receiver Tank Dell for the season, they had both Stroud and leading receiver Nico Collins go down in Sunday’s 30-6 loss against the New York Jets.
Stroud had entered the week as the NFL’s passing yards leader amid what’s been an electric rookie campaign. The back of his helmet hit the ground when he was taken down by Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams with 6:43 left in the fourth quarter, and he did not return after being evaluated.
Williams, whose hit on the quarterback was a late one, took to social media to wish Stroud the best after the game.
“I pray CJ is ok, everyone know I’m not a dirty player or trying to hurt a great, Elite QB like him or any player in the league,” he wrote. “I play hard and I play fair. Again I pray CJ is ok and wish him nothing but the best.”
