Azeez Al-Shaair is public enemy number one after a huge hit that knocked out quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence suffered a concussion when he was hit around the head and neck by the Texans linebacker as he was sliding to give himself up on a scramble in the second quarter.
The tackle sparked a brief brawl between both sides as Lawrence was tended to by staff.
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence eventually got to his feet but still rode upright in a cart off the field.
Azeez Al-Shaair and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones were both ejected, while Jaguars tight end Evan Engram was also penalized for unnecessary roughness for his role in the ensuing fight.
Al-Shaair did not speak to reporters after the game.
On Monday morning, the Houston Texans linebacker decided to break his silence and issue a lengthy apology to Trevor Lawrence, all while giving an explanation of his actions.

“I genuinely didn’t see him sliding until it was too late,” Al-Shaair wrote in a statement he posted to X.
Azeez Al-Shaair’s apology to Lawrence: “To Trevor, I genuinely apologize to you for what ended up happening. Before the game, we spoke, and I told you how it was great to see you back out on the field and wished you well. I would never want to see any player hurt because of a hit I put on them, especially one that’s deemed ‘late’ or ‘unnecessary.'”
Before he was ejected, Al-Shaair had five combined tackles in the game.
