The NFL offseason is underway, which means we’re likely to see some shocking moves and acquisitions.
It’s also the period during which bold predictions and likely trade scenarios emerge. And, as such, ESPN analyst Mel Kiper has made a few as part of his mock draft. Kiper has suggested that the Houston Texans could move up one spot in the draft to select Bryce Young from Alabama while the Chicago bears trade down again so the Indianapolis Colts could get the No. 2 pick.
It’s a big week for Young, who will be under the microscope at the combine. There isn’t much of a history of sub-200-pound quarterbacks having NFL success, and he could put that to the test. He was closer to 190 pounds at Alabama; how much will he weigh in Indianapolis later this week? My over/under is 195. If he’s in that range, I feel good about him as the QB1.

The Colts would then use their pick on Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud, leaving Chicago to take Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter as the fourth overall pick.
According to Kiper’s draft, the Carolina Panthers would trade up to the No. 5 pick to get the highly-rated Will Levis from Kentucky.
“Will he excel once he gets around a step up in talent? That’s a bet a team will be willing to take,” Kiper explains. “Carolina will have a chance to build around him, starting this offseason.”

We could see multiple top picks get traded ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft in truth, with many teams in the market for a quarterback.
The Bears have a much-improved signal-caller in Justin Fields but they’re rumored to be keen on trading the former Ohio State star.
There’s also some experience already on the market, with players such as Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota and Jimmy Garoppolo available. Aaron Rodgers could also be on the move this year. So the offseason could be an exciting one for NFL fans.
