Way back in 2008, some eleven years ago, Terrell Owens was a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys and just came to the podium to speak following a playoff loss. A teary-eyed Owens dropped a gem of a quote that still goes on to this day when he defended QB Tony Romo:
“It’s not about Tony,” he said, his voice even, flat. “You guys can point the finger at him. You can talk about the vacation. …”
“If you do that, that’s really unfair,” Owens said. “Really unfair. That’s my teammate. That’s my quarterback. We lost as a team. We lost as a team, man.”
Things have changed since that day, because even though Romo never quite excelled on the field to show results in the form of playoff wins and rings, he has been magnificent as a broadcaster.
Hall of fame WR Terrell Owens was a guest on NFL Total Access talking about that fact when he threw some shots at Romo for being able to do stuff in the booth that he couldn’t do on the field.
