With teams around the NFL unveiling the throwback uniforms they will sport during the 2023 season, we are now getting a look at the most controversial one when it comes to the long-awaited Tennessee Oilers jerseys the Titans are expected to wear this fall.
According to the leak on Twitter, the Titans are going with the blue Oilers throwbacks complimented by a Nike patch and the famous “Luv ya Blue!” catchphrase inside the collar.
Fans are loving the uniform, but many can’t help but to state the Oilers do not have a connection with Tennessee at all, as the history is in Houston when the team played at the Astrodome.
The Tennessee Titans released a video on social media early Wednesday, teasing fans to tune in for an announcement.

While some Oilers fans are indifferent to this development, it brings back painful memories for others who remember when then-owner Bud Adams relocated the team from Houston to Tennessee in the 1990s.
Houston Texans icon J.J. Watt sent out a tweet speaking on the throwbacks and while he praised the Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Minnesota Vikings, among others, he noted the Oilers “As much as that pains me, it will be a great look.”
Watt then responded to a fan who stated he never played or the Oilers.
“I lived in Houston for 10 years,” Watt wrote. “My first training camp I met Bum Phillips. I was coached by Wade. I’ve seen firsthand how much the people of Houston loved the Oilers. Earl [Campbell], Bruce [Matthews], Warren [Moon], Dr. Doom [Robert Brazile], etc. Luv Ya Blue is real.
“So yeah it pains me for Houston and those fans.”
The Texans and Titans will play each other twice during the 2023 season. The first matchup is scheduled for Dec. 17 in Nashville, followed by a meeting in Houston two weeks later on New Year’s Eve.
