Last month, Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he plans to play for the New York Jets in 2023.
Rodgers stated that the two sides just had to work out draft compensation. Here we are in the first week of April, however, and the four-time league MVP remains a member of the Packers. There is still no timeline on when a trade may be completed.
There’s also nothing to indicate that another team will swoop in and pry Rodgers away from the Jets, but the possibility can’t be ruled out in a league where we’ve learned to expect the unexpected.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon proposed several blockbuster NFL Draft ideas that would change the landscape of the NFL. One of Gagnon’s proposals? The Tennessee Titans trading the No. 11 selection to the Packers for the future Hall of Famer:
Considering how deeply Aaron Rodgers has been tied to the New York Jets, it’s highly improbable that the Green Bay Packers will deal the four-time MVP to another team. But a move to the Jets wouldn’t exactly turn the league upside down because we’ve all been accounting for it throughout the offseason.
Instead, if the Titans are indeed interested in trading up for one of the draft’s top four quarterbacks, you can’t help but wonder if they might also be willing to sell that No. 11 selection in exchange for Rodgers…And even if a first-round selection in this year’s draft isn’t needed specifically to land Rodgers, the advantage in terms of draft capital could help put the Titans over the top.
And really, the only thing that would make the AFC even more wild in 2023 than Tennessee’s suddenly becoming a player with a blue-chip quarterback would be for the legendary Rodgers to jump into an offensive backfield with Henry on a team that is always in contention.”
The Titans closed out the 2022 season on a seven-game losing streak, including a Week 18 win-or-go-home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with the AFC South division crown on the line. Many wondered if new GM Ran Carthon would look to start over at quarterback, but the Titans appear keen on continuing with Ryan Tannehill.
But Rodgers would certainly be a good fit for Mike Vrabel’s Titans. The club recorded six straight winning seasons from 2016 to 2021, making the postseason four times (2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021) in that span.

Rodgers would have two-time rushing champion Derrick Henry as his go-to playmaker as well as 2022 first-round pick Treylon Burks at wide receiver. It’s certainly an interesting trade proposal, but unless we hear otherwise, the safe assumption is that Rodgers is headed to Gotham.
