Daniel Jones is coming off a career year with the New York Giants, one that led to him earning a lucrative four-year contract extension worth $160 million this offseason.
The Giants greatly exceeded expectations by finishing with a 9-7-1 record to end a six-year playoff drought. They proceeded to upset the 13-win Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Wild Card Round, marking the franchise’s first postseason victory since their win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 46.
But what if the Giants managed to swing one last offseason blockbuster move to further improve the supporting cast around their franchise QB?
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine proposed a massive blockbuster trade that would see the Giants land star wideout Tee Higgins from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for 2024 first, 2024 third and 2025 third-round draft selections:
“The Cincinnati Bengals would probably love to keep the core of Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins together for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, it’s going to be difficult with salary-cap restraints.
Right now, they are enjoying all three stars on rookie contracts, but they are all due for extensions that figure to be market-setting or top-of-the-market deals…
Several teams should be willing to pay a first- and third-rounder for a receiver, but the New York Giants make a lot of sense. They would give the Bengals a chance to trade Higgins out of the conference and should be in the market for a true No. 1 receiver.”
GM Joe Schoen addressed that by trading for Ex-Las Vegas Raiders’ Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller, and by using a third-round pick on Tennessee product Jalin Hyatt.

The Bengals may not be keen on trading Higgins while they remain in win-now mode, but that could always change if they’re worried about losing him for nothing in 2024 free agency. If he does hit the trade block, the Giants definitely make sense as a contender.
