The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly among three teams to follow in the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes during the NFL Combine.
According to a report from Johnny Venerable of PHNX Sports, the Chiefs, New England Patriots and New York Giants are teams to “keep your eyes on” in the Hopkins sweepstakes. Venerable added that the Pats’ No. 46 pick, the Giants’ No. 57 selection and the Chiefs’ No. 63 pick could be offered in a trade for the five-time Pro Bowler.
The Arizona Cardinals are widely expected to trade Hopkins following a dismal 4-13 season. GM Steve Keim resigned and was replaced by Monti Ossenfort. Ex-Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon was named the new head coach after the team fired Kliff Kingsbury.
Though he’s a five-time Pro Bowler and consistent 1,000-yard threat, injuries and suspensions have limited Hopkins to 19 games over the last two years. In 2022, Hopkins appeared in nine games and recorded 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns.
The Chiefs could use Hopkins with receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman headed for free agency. The Patriots lack a true WR1, and leading receiver Jakobi Meyers is also eligible for free agency.
The Giants made the postseason in 2022 despite lacking a reliable play-making receiver outside of Darius Slayton. So all three teams make perfect sense as potential landing spots for the perennial Pro Bowler.

Arizona acquired Hopkins in a lopsided deal with the Houston Texans back in 2020. Hopkins has performed at a high level during his tenure with the Cardinals, but it appears to only be a matter of time until he’s traded.
