The JJ Watt era in Houston appears to be over.
James Palmer of NFL Network reported on Saturday that a number of Texans players and coaches believe the long-time star pass rusher has played his last game with the team.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said the franchise is well aware that the veteran defensive end deserves clarity regarding his future in Houston and it’s something both sides want to figure out.
Watt is entering his final year of his deal that has no more guarantees left. Not helping the situation is the drama surrounding QB Deshaun Watson and him demanding a trade.
The 31-year-old Watt played in all 16 games in 2020 and racked up 52 tackles, five sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles, a recovery, a defensive touchdown and seven passes defended.
