One of the biggest points of conversation that has emerged this NFL season is the amounts of injuries caused by playing on artificial turf. MetLife Stadium might be the worst turf in the entire league as it claims the limbs of several players every year.
For the second time since its opening, U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis is in line for a new playing surface.
The Minnesota Vikings are set to replace the artificial turf in U.S. Bank Stadium with more artificial turf. The stadium’s versatile use ranging from football games to monster truck rallies to concerts means the turf is often under pressure and things need to change.
Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reported the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority has approved a $1.3 million bid to replace the silt-film turf at U.S. Bank Stadium with a monofilament version called Act Global Xtreme Turf DX.
Silt-film turf has been associated with an elevated number of injuries as U.S Bank Stadium, Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati are the stadiums that are still using it.
The Vikings will install the same turf at their practice facility.
