At this point, Travis Kelce has spoken many times about the relationship with Taylor Swift, but the singer has remained quiet. That changed this week as the pop-culture superstar made a slight exception as part of her interview after being named Time’s Person of the Year.
Speaking to Sam Lansky of Time, Swift said “We’re just proud of each other” when discussing Kelce.
She also broke down on how they initially started “hanging out” and getting to know each other after Kelce talked about her on his podcast.
The 33-year-old pop star praised the Chiefs tight end for “adorably” putting her “on blast” in July when he tried and failed to give her his phone number at a Missouri Eras Tour stop.
She even commented on his podcast, calling it “metal as hell.”
She recalled, “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

Swift also made it clear that by the time she showed up at Arrowhead Stadium for the first time, they were already an item.
“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game. We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game?” she added. “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care. The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
Despite many calling her a lifelong Eagles fan, she made a comment that suggests that she hasn’t been really keeping up with the sport over the years until now. The songwriter noted that she thinks football is an “awesome” sport that she has been “missing out on” her whole life.
When it comes to games that she has attended, Swift told Lansky she doesn’t know how the television cameras find her in the stadium or how often they end up showing her on the broadcast. She is also aware that her being shown so much does upset fans.
“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once. … I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Swift has been in attendance at five Chiefs games this season, most recently on Sunday night at Lambeau Field.
Kansas City’s 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers was the first time the reigning Super Bowl champs were defeated with the Grammy winner in the stadium.
