Eight years ago was a different time as no one could predict a single moment that would have Taylor Swift back in the same spot she is right now.
Back then, she was clearly just as popular and things were starting to line up in the years to come.
This story takes us back to when quarterback Chase Daniel was in the NFL. The ex-Chiefs star took to X back in 2015 to show he gifted the pop star the team’s jersey during her 1989 Tour.
Daniel, who played as the Chiefs’ signal caller from 2013 to 2018, and his wife Hillary gifted Swift with a No. 89 jersey, in honor of the Grammy award-winning 1989 album, which was named after the year she was born in.
Swift made a stop in Kansas City to perform at Arrowhead.
Chase even had to comment about it after his notifications went off.

One Chiefs fan account pointed out it would have been even more iconic if Daniel had gifted Swift a No. 87 jersey – Kelce’s number.
In 2015, Kelce started all 16 regular season games and recorded 72 catches for 875 yards and five touchdowns, earning his way to his first Pro Bowl. The Chiefs finished the regular season with an 11–5 record and made the playoffs.
Alex Smith and Chase Daniel played quarterback for the Chiefs in 2015. Patrick Mahomes spent his rookie season as the backup to Alex Smith. He was named the starter in 2018 after the Chiefs traded Smith to the then-Washington Redskins. That season, Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Two Super Bowls later and they are still going strong.
As luck would have it, Swift would be back at Arrowhead for a regular season game to watch Travis Kelce as their relationship started to grow.
