The Tennessee Titans released offensive lineman Taylor Lewan last week to free up cap space. However, they didn’t exactly give the three-time Pro Bowler the most gracious farewell.
Lewan said the team dropped off some of his belongings in garbage bags.
“Shout out to the Titans dropping my stuff off today,” Lewan wrote on Twitter. “They even let me keep the shoulder pads.”
Many of the reactions that came afterward blasted the Tennessee Titans for doing a player that meant so much to them in years past so badly. However, Lewan does not think the Titans deserve any criticism as he explained in a video.
He also revealed that he asked them to drop his gear off.
“Yeah, it’s in trash bags. Who cares? What does it need to be in, a horse-drawn gold chariot that they ride up in and say thanks for the last 10 years?” Lewan said. “Let’s stop overreacting. The Titans have treated me amazing. Even when they cut me, it was an amazing deal. They let me choose when I was going to get cut.”

The first-round pick of the Titans out of Michigan in 2014 may be correct in his assessment, but his original photo left people thinking they just merely kicked him out and threw his things on his porch. He didn’t leave the original context that left them open to be blasted.
Lewan will land on his feet elsewhere, but he has already made it clear that every other team in the AFC South won’t receive his services.
It was a tough season for Lewan, who played in just two games after suffering a knee injury in Week 2. He also played in just five games in 2020 after suffering a torn ACL. Injuries have pretty much derailed his career these past few years.
