The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly received a trade request from one of their best players.
ESPN’s Jenna Laine is citing two sources who she says have told her that linebacker Devin White has requested a move, while others, including Adam Schefter, have confirmed as much. According to Schefter, the Bucs are keen on keeping the player but he wants to be dealt as he is coming up on his fifth-year option.
Jeremy Fowler also notes that the 25-year-old is displeased with the way contract negotiations are coming along as he nears the end of this rookie deal.
The LB is set to play out a fifth-year option as things stand and is set to make a fully-guaranteed $11.37 in 2023.

The former All-American was drafted as the No. 5 overall pick in 2019, with Tampa Bay selecting him out of Louisiana State University. He signed a rookie deal worth $29.31 million with the team, inclusive of $19.34 million as a signing bonus.
White, who helped Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl in 2021 and was a Pro Bowler that year, had a solid campaign last season, playing all 17 games and making 124 total tackles, including eight for loss. He also recorded 5.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, three recoveries, and five deflected passes.
The Buccaneers have picked up his fifth-year option but it appears negotiations have hit an impasse.
