The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have offered an update on Russell Gage following Monday night’s worrying events.
The wide receiver had to be stretchered off the field during a 31-14 wild-card loss to the Dallas Cowboys and was taken to hospital thereafter, having fallen to the ground while trying to make a reception off a pass from Tom Brady.
Gage failed to make the catch but also took a strong shot to the neck from Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson. He attempted to get up but was unable to do so and slammed his hand into the turf in apparent frustration.
The Bucs have since released an update on the player’s condition, citing a neck injury and a concussion while noting there’s been movement in all extremities.
“After suffering a neck injury and concussion during the fourth quarter of last night’s game, Russell was taken to a local hospital where he remained overnight for additional testing and observation,” the team announced via its official website on Tuesday. “Russell has had movement in all extremities and will continue to undergo additional testing today. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.”

Another Scary Injury
This comes just two weeks after a scare involving Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who suffered a cardiac arrest during an MNF fixture versus the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2.
Players from both the Bucs and Cowboys were visibly worried, likely in light of the above, and took a knee to pray for Gage while he was being attended to by medical personnel.
Brady was seen standing by medical staff prior to the game resuming.
