The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are uncertain about what they are going to do at quarterback in 2020, but it became a little clearer after the Los Angeles Chargers and Philip Rivers mutually agreed to part ways.
Because of that, Jenna Laine of ESPN is reporting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly shown legitimate interest in free-agent quarterback Philip Rivers.
“The Philip Rivers rumors aren’t circulating just because Rivers and his family moved to Florida. League sources say the Bucs’ interest in the eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback is legitimate, although Rivers has been plagued by many of the same issues that Winston has — interceptions. He has thrown 198 picks since 2004, third most of any player in that span. He also has thrown the second-most interceptions over the past five seasons (76), behind only Winston’s 88.”
It should be noted that something might be going on already behind the scenes as Rivers moved his entire family out of San Diego and went to Florida just last month.
Philip Rivers is an eight-time Pro Bowler, but he is 38-years-old and on the downside of his career.
In 2019, in what would be his final season with the Chargers — Rivers completed 66.0 percent of his passes for 4,615 yards and 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions while the Chargers went 5-11.

The Bucs still have a massive decision on what they are going to do with starter Jameis Winston going forward. The former #1 overall pick had a confusing year that saw him throw for over 5,000 yards, a career-high 33 touchdowns, but also 30 interceptions and 12 fumbles.
