With Tom Brady officially back in the fold, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are wasting no time surrounding him with talent
Tampa already has two star receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, with the latter receiving the franchise tag before he could hit the open market. And now, they have another major weapon in their wide receivers room.
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bucs are expected to sign former Atlanta Falcons wideout Russell Gage.
With Antonio Brown gone, the Buccaneers had to address their vacancy at the no. 3 wideout position. And it’s an especially important addition given the fact that Godwin may not be ready for week one after suffering a torn ACL in week 15 of the 2021 season.
Gage was hot down the stretch for the Falcons. Over his final seven games, he averaged 6.4 receptions and 80.3 yards per contest, while posting three touchdowns over that stretch.
It’s a savvy addition for Tampa, and they may not be done. The team still has two key pieces that need to be re-signed in Leonard Fournette and Rob Gronkowski. You can bet they’ll be doing whatever they can to retain the two players that played a major factor in their Super Bowl run in 2020.
