Unlike the first time Tom Brady retired, he won’t have to deal with a wife at home telling him why it is a good idea for him to finally walk away from the game. His next decision will be all about him and what he wants to do going forward.
On Monday’s Let’s Go podcast, Jim Gray asked Brady about Rob Gronkowski coming out of retirement and if it would lead to Brady unretiring again.
The 45-year-old made it clear that he has zero plans of doing what he did the first time around when he hung up his cleats and then came back some 40 days later.
“Well, I think next time I decide to retire, that’s it for me,” Brady said, “So whenever that day comes, we’ll figure it out.”
When Gray asked if Brady ever contemplates retirement, he responded, “I really don’t.”
“I think what I really realized last year was you got to be really sure to do that,” he said. “And for me, you know, a lot of people have kind of gone through this situation. I’m going to take my time whenever that time does come.”
While “all options” were reportedly available for the legendary QB, Brady isn’t thinking about going away quite yet. So, as of now, it’s up in the air if Brady will go.
Brady and the Bucs are still under .500 for the year, but they also have a chance to win the NFC South and make the playoffs again. They lead the lowly division with a terrible 7-8 record, with 6-9 Carolina hot on their tail.
