Taylor Swift fans, known as “Swifties” are taking credit for NBC’s surprising decision to remove Al Michaels from their NFL postseason coverage.
Earlier this week, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported that NBC was dropping Michaels from its playoff coverage in favor of Noah Eagle (the son of CBS Sports’ Ian Eagle) and Todd Blackledge.
Though Michaels’ full-time run with NBC ended after the 2021 season, the network brought the Amazon Prime Video “Thursday Night Football” commentator back to call the Los Angeles Chargers-Jacksonville Jagguars Wild Card Game last year.
There is growing speculation that NBC opted against bringing back Michaels because of comments he made about Swift before a Denver Broncos-Kansas City Chiefs TNF broadcast back in October. Swift is in a relationship with Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce.
On social media, “Swifties” are now taking credit in Michaels getting dropped from the network that he spent 16 years with (2006 to 2021):
