A record number of Americans placed bets on the Super Bowl this year.
It certainly become one of the biggest questions on the biggest betting day of the year: What color Gatorade would be thrown on the Super Bowl? Gatorade Color is among the most popular bets on Super Bowl Sunday, but this year’s betting is leading to future questions.
Prior to Super Bowl LVIII, so much action on the correct color, purple, moved the line from +275 to -130 by kickoff on DraftKings. Days before the game, purple had received just one percent of the overall money on the market on BetMGM.
More from The NY Post:
“This color was the only one whose total handle percentage was more than than its percentage of total bets on DraftKings, a key data point when navigating through where the bigger – potentially more informed – money was coming.
But that changed rather quickly as the game approached; BetMGM then reported 17 percent of the handle on purple, despite only seven percent of overall bets.
Meanwhile, Fanatics had an insane 60 percent of the overall money on the color purple alone, by far the most lopsided action anyone saw across the legal betting market.
It seems some insider trading information was going on but there is no way of finding out how and who it may have come from.

After the Chiefs won Super Bowl 58 in overtime, players dumped purple Gatorade all over Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Purple was slated as a significant +275 favorite in the odds ahead of the matchup as the Chiefs also dumped the color over Reid after Super Bowl 57.
One week before the change, Yellow/Green was favored but it was odd since Yellow has been seen once since Super Bowl 45. Red made a big jump on the oddsboard probably because bettors think one of these two teams will have the Gatorade match their primary color. As we saw, that did not happen.
It makes you wonder if this will be a prop bet going forward as information on the color can be easily obtained from somebody close to the action.
