The New York Jets are all in on winning a Super Bowl and made moves to at least get them to close over the summer. But things didn’t take that long to blow up in their faces as Aaron Rodgers, the man brought in to get them there, ruptured his Achilles on his debut.
They could have done a lot worse at 4-3 in their first seven games, but it appears management was still keen on adding more firepower ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets attempted to trade for Rodgers’ former teammate Davante Adams but the Las Vegas Raiders rebuffed their approach.
The Raiders were a bit preoccupied, to say the least, as they fired general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels hours after the deadline.
Adams, who had grown disenchanted under McDaniels in Vegas, appears to be a lot happier now. But we’re willing to bet that he wouldn’t have minded a move that would see him reunite with Rodgers after their spell together in Green Bay.
