Super Bowl 57 is expected to attract a record number of bettors and wagers as fans anticipate what could go down as one of the better games in recent memory.
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to win their second Super Bowl on Sunday, their first since 2018, while the Kansas City Chiefs are keen on taking home their third, having won in 1969 and 2019. The showdown is also set to be the first of its kind in that it will feature two black quarterbacks for the first time in history, with Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes poised for the action.
According to the American Gaming Association, 50.4 million adults are expected to bet on the fixture, which marks a 61 percent increase over last year’s betting stats. The AGA also notes the potential sum bet overall is double what was projected in 2022 at $16 billion.
Betting has been legalized in multiple states over the past year, so it stands to reason that the above is indeed possible. This year’s Super Bowl is also going to be the first over which folks are expected to bet against friends via a pool through both online and retail bookmakers.
Per the projections, 30 million adults will make a traditional wager while 28 million will bet casually against peers. Online betting is expected to account for 38 percent of all bets placed for Super Bowl 57.
