Steve Smith Sr. may be six years removed from his NFL playing days, but he clearly still has that fire within him. And it nearly came out during last night’s Thursday Night Football pregame show.
While providing analysis from down on the field before kickoff between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns, the former Panthers wide receiver got noticeably close to a group of Steelers who were running some drills.
Sensing that he could end up in the line of fire, Smith Sr. fired off a warning shot for the Pittsburgh players.
“I’ll tell you what, if one of these boys hits me while I ain’t in a uniform, they will not be playing tonight!”
For those who may not remember, Steve Smith also spent a few years with the Baltimore Ravens during the twilight of his career. So perhaps some of his animosity towards the practicing Steelers players stems from his playing days.
Either way, it’s probably a good thing that those Steelers players steered clear of Smith. As he showed time and time again during his playing days, he’s never been one to shy away from a fight — no matter how big his opponent may be.
