Baker Mayfield seems to on the outside looking in amid drama with the Cleveland Browns. Things seem to be trending that way after reports surfaced that the Browns already met with Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
While there were those who showed their support to Mayfield, former NFL star Steve Smith Sr. wasn’t as sympathetic. During his appearance on the NFL Network, Smith didn’t mince words when he sounded off on the situation and Mayfield letting his feelings known about the Browns.
“At the end of the day, I find it interesting that Baker now is emotional, he wears his emotions on his sleeve. I do too. But the difference between Baker and I is I won. I won a triple crown. I led the league in something besides crying.”
Smith is a three-time All-Pro member, a five-time Pro Bowler, and a Comeback Player of the Year. He starred for the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens, leading the league in three receiving statistics in 2005.
“Call me Captain Petty. Get him outta there and let the Browns go ahead and eat because he’s been holding this team back and thank you Baker, you got OBJ (Odell Beckham Jr.) a Super Bowl. So, hats off to you.”
Since Mayfield’s arrival in 2018 as the no. 1 overall pick, the Browns have only advanced to the NFL Playoffs once, but did win a playoff game against the Steelers.
