Football fans are praying for and offering support to Chicago Bears legend Steve McMichael following some worrying news.
The former defensive tackle has been hospitalized recently, with ChicagoBears.com’s Larry Meyer revealing as much this Friday. Meyer claims to have been told by McMichael’s publicist that the erstwhile football and wrestling star was admitted to the intensive care unit for sepsis and is in need of antibiotics.
McMichael, affectionately known as “Mongo,” has also been battling ALS.

According to the statement, the 65-year-old is awake and improving. His vitals are better and his wife hopes he could remain around long enough to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday.
Mongo played 15 seasons in the NFL, spending 13 of them with the Bears as one of their key defenders in the 80s.
He logged at least eight sacks each year between 1983 and 1988 and was an All-Pro in three seasons, with his first coming as part of the legendary 85 defense.
Michael, who was ranked at No. 19 on the Bears’ greatest of all-time list in 2019, set a franchise record with the team for most consecutive games played, featuring in 191 fixtures without an absence.
While he hasn’t been able to nail enshrinement down, he was named as a semifinalist for the Class of 2024.
Get well soon, Mongo!
