Former New England Patriots defensive play-caller Steve Belichick is headed elsewhere to continue his career.
After the departure of his father from the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick, the young son is now headed to college.
Belichick is reportedly accepting a job with the University of Washington, according to ESPN’s Field Yates, and will be their defensive coordinator next season.
Belichick is the son of legendary Patriots coach Bill Belichick and called plays for the Patriots’ defense the last four seasons.
The younger Belichick was first hired by the Patriots in 2012 as a defensive assistant and he worked himself up to being promoted to safeties coach in 2016. He would then take over play-calling duties in 2019 when Brian Flores left to become head coach of the Miami Dolphins and has been the Patriots outside linebackers coach since 2020.
