In college, Stetson Bennett was the best quarterback in the country that delivered back-to-back National title victories to the Georgia program.
However, not many NFL teams were high on his talent and upside, which is why he was selected in the fourth round with the 128th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.
This summer, he’ll compete for a roster spot with the Rams, though the QB1 slot is held by Matthew Stafford, who is another former Georgia Bulldog.
The Rams held a practice on Thursday and Bennett showed off his skills as the Rams Twitter account showed the 2-time national champion at Georgia took a snap, rolled to his left, and fired a touchdown pass to diving TE Hunter Long.
Bennett will compete with former Denver Broncos backup QB Brett Rypien for the top backup job in Los Angeles this season.
Whether he replaces Stafford in the future remains to be seen, but he’ll have quite a tutor in his fellow former Bulldog for however long the latter chooses to play.

Bennett was Rams general manager Les Snead’s favorite quarterback in this class and it’s not hard to see why. He earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2022 and offensive most valuable honors in both the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff Semifinals and National Championships on his way to taking home the sport’s most coveted hardware, a national title, in back-to-back seasons.
He’s a proven winner who has a chip on his shoulder from being selected in the fourth round.
