It has not been the best offseason for the Dallas Cowboys. The fan base was not happy with the trade of star receiver Amari Cooper to Cleveland for merely a fifth-round selection.
They were even madder at defensive end Randy Gregory signing with the Denver Broncos when the Cowboys offered him identical financial terms. Not to mention, the team released starting right tackle La’el Collins’ release.
Dallas VP Stephen Jones addressed the angry part of the fan base on Wednesday.
“Winning offseasons have gotten us nowhere. So when you say, IHey, what are you doing to change? What are you doing to do something different that’s going to change the narrative so that when you do get to the playoffs, you’re able to have some success?’
How do you change the narrative that you win some playoff games and you compete for a championship? … I know there’s no question when the Rams step up and do what they did and they win a Super Bowl championship, and of course
their mantra was to get some big-name players who did show up for them in the postseason, then that becomes, “Hey, look at the Rams. Look at what they did. Everybody needs to emulate it.’
I mean, it’s a copycat league, and people are like, ‘Well, they’re doing it, they won one, let’s do it the way the Rams did it.’ So I get that. I understand our fans and what we’re doing here.
It’s certainly not a flashy, sexy way we went about it this offseason, but we feel really good that the results are going to be much better.”
Dallas is coming off a great regular season, but a Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is celebrating his 29th birthday this week.
“Golden birthday, I’m planning for this to be the golden year,” Prescott said during his press conference on Thursday.
After missing most of the 2020 season with a brutal leg injury, Prescott returned with some solid production in 2021 — logging 4,449 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions with an 12-5 regular-season record.
