No team seems to talk more publicly about contract negotiations than the Dallas Cowboys, mainly, Jerry and Stephen Jones.
The team has been trying to get Dak Prescott signed to a long-term deal since before the 2019 season, but nothing has really progressed besides Dak turning down a deal last season.
Franchise vice president Stephen Jones recently spoke to Pro Football Talk about Dak’s contract and it really doesn’t bode well for the star QB getting the mega deal that he covets.
“There’s all sorts of analytics out there that show if your quarterback takes up too big a percentage of your salary cap, that it decreases your chances to win.”

Dak was drafted in the 4th-round of the 2016 NFL Draft and has clearly exceeded expectations, but still can’t be compensated like other quarterbacks around the league.
It makes you think that Andy Dalton was brought in to be the possible starter if Dak attempts to hold out.
Though the Cowboys finished a disappointing 8-8, Prescott ended the 2019 season with a career-high 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns and seems poised for another strong year with the draft addition of Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb and re-signing of Amari Cooper.
