If you’ve ever watched multiple things on ESPN, then you’d know just how much Stephen A. Smith works. He does a lot for the amount of money he gets.
The ESPN personality has a salry worth $8 million per year, but makes $12 million annually in total compensation. However, he still thinks he is underpaid.
That topic was brought up when he and his First Take crew discussed the fact that no U.S.-born Black players are projected to suit up for the 2022 World Series.
“Just like women are underpaid compared to male counterparts, Blacks are underpaid compared to white counterparts. So when you look at it from that perspective — and of course, I’m not talking about me,” Smith said. “Even though I got news for you, I am underpaid compared to some people on television and what they get paid. But that’s a subject for another day. I’m not apologizing for that to a damn soul. I am underpaid.”
The 54-year-old co-host of “First Take” has made a living on social media getting into screaming matches on live TV, telling NFL players to lay off the weed, calling Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers a “baaaaaad man” and getting in Twitter beefs with the likes of Kevin Durant.
Like him or not, Smith is practically the face of the Worldwide Leader in Sports along with Scott Van Pelt. However, don’t expect anybody to feel sorry for his salary and how he thinks he is underpaid.
