Stephen A. Smith does not want to see Aaron Rodgers playing this season even if he gets cleared to pull off what would be a miraculous return.
Rodgers might play this season given that he’s already practicing. But many people feel like the risk is too great given his age, the fact that no one has ever done this before, plus that it might be for nothing given the Jets’ 4-7 record.
Stephen A. is one of those people, and he ripped into the veteran during ‘First Take’ this Friday.
Smith advised the QB to kick his feet up and to keep appearing on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’ every Tuesday, urging him to stay off the field.
He said:
“The New York Jets lost four straight. They’re 4-7. We’re playing for nothing. What are we doing? Take your A home. Go on The Pat McAfee Show every Tuesday. Kick your feet up. Relax… You make one wrong move, it’s your Achilles, and something else could happen to you, and for what? What purpose does it serve? It’s a stupid thing to do. Sit your A home.”

Dan Orlovsky reasoned Rodgers could at least play one game to “check the box” in terms of making history. “That matters to people like that,” he argued.
Smith was having none of it, though.
“What box? He’s a Super Bowl champion, he’s a sure-fire future Hall of Famer, he’s one of the greatest quarterbacks to have ever lived. Really? … Talk about [playing] football for this team. For this team?” he countered.
In any case, A-Rod is back out there practicing. We might be about to witness the most shocking comeback of all time.
