The hype on Colorado Buffaloes’ star cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter is growing so much that one prominent NFL star thinks he could become the league’s first non-quarterback player to make $300-400 million.
Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the only NFLer to exceed $300 million, having signed a 10-year, $450 million extension in 2020. Cincinnati Bengals’ signal-caller Joe Burrow just signed the second-biggest deal in league history at $275 million over five years.
During an appearance on Von Miller’s “The Voncast”, Bills’ star wideout Stefon Diggs suggested that Hunter could be the first non-quarterback player to make $300-400 million. Hunter will be draft eligible in 2025.
“The first $300-400 million player,” Diggs said.
The 20-year-old Hunter has been instrumental in Colorado’s surprising 2-0 start under new head coach Deion Sanders. Hunter played under Sanders at Jackson State last year before opting to join “Prime Time” in Boulder.
Hunter has one interception and two pass defenses as a cornerback and 14 receptions for 192 yards as a receiver through Colorado’s first two games. In 2022, Hunter had two picks, eight pass defenses and 18 receptions for 190 yards and four touchdowns.
