When Stefon Diggs missed the first day of the Bills’ mandatory minicamp in June, it caused a wave of controversy for Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott. The reason for his absence was unknown then and continued to be that way until this week.
Despite the previous friction and flare between the two, McDermott told reporters that Diggs is currently in “a good spot” with the team.
According to ESPN Bills reporter Alaina Getzenberg, Diggs spoke to the media on Wednesday and finally revealed why he missed minicamp. He explained “family matters” kept him out of camp on that one day. He added that it’s all “water under the bridge” but he would prefer to keep the conversations between himself and the Bills afterward private.
“Stefon Diggs talking about the situation regarding minicamp for the first time, said that he chalks it up to ‘family matters’ and that conversations were held that he prefers to keep in-house and that it’s now ‘water under the bridge,'” Getzenberg wrote.
Diggs, sometimes known for his cryptic or confusing social media messages, was back at it again a few days ago with another powerful message before camp.

“Some ppl threw dirt on my name while others have given flowers. The thing is, it was all a garden to me… I grew from it.”
Lucky for everyone, Diggs seems geared up and ready to take the world by storm. He finished last season with yet another Pro Bowl bid to go along with 108 catches for 1429 yards and 11 touchdowns in the regular season.
The Bills need Diggs to continue to be on his A-game if the team wants a chance to move deeper in the postseason.
