Pittsburgh Steelers took a big page out of the book of Buffalo Bills fans.
Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson’s 47-yard field goal as time expired in overtime Sunday night clinched a playoff berth not just for Vegas, but also the Steelers, who would have been eliminated had the game against the Chargers ended in a tie. The playoff berth also extends Ben Roethlisberger’s by at least one more game.
On Monday, Steelers fans began showing their gratitude to Carlson by donating to charities he’s been associated with.
“(Steelers) Please thank your fans who are generously donating to charities I’ve been involved with!” Carlson tweeted Monday. “I’ll add some links below for any others who would like to join in on the fun! PLAYOFFS!!!”
Had the Chargers not called a timout late in the OT, the Raiders just may have opted not to attempt the kick and both the Raiders and the Chargers would have advanced to the playoffs and Pittsburgh would have been out.
