From the first ever American football game in 1867, New Brunswick NJ to what the league is today there is no doubt that the NFL has seen the rise and fall of superstars over the years. They may emerge from the collegiate level whether it’s division one, division two, or division three, or completely change sports out of nowhere and make a name for themselves in the league.
Some of the most notable and recognizable legends of the gridiron have passed on their expertise and renown to the next generation! Their sons are making names for themselves in college ball and there is every expectation they will be part of the pro ball family.
Here are the 10 Sons of NFL Legends who are likely to be the next-gen Superstars:
Marvin Harrison Jr.
The son of Colts Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr., Harrison Jr. is having quite the career at the Ohio State University. He caught 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and scored 14 touchdowns during his sophomore season with the Buckeyes. He’s only getting started as NFL Scouts and wide receiver-needy teams are going to keep their eyes on Harrison Jr. when or if he declares for the NFL Draft. When he does reach the NFL, don’t be surprised if he is right up there with his dad’s accomplishments!
Frank Gore Jr.
The son of Frank Gore Sr. (The NFL’s true iron horse running back), Gore Jr. is looking like he is shaping his football career to be similar to his father’s. Although the running back position isn’t in high demand like it used to be, Gore Jr. is looking like he can be a second or third-round steal for a team needing depth in the trenches and backfield. Gore Jr.’s best season at the University of Southern Miss was his junior year when he rushed for 1,382 yards on 228 carries and scored nine touchdowns. He has great potential to be a Pro Bowl running back at the next level depending on which team drafts the young running back takes the leap!

E.J. Warner
The son of Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, E.J. is currently the quarterback for the Temple Owls. Warner got his start for Temple in 2022 when he replaced D’Wan Mathis in a 30-14 victory over Lafayette. Warner’s stats may not be the best as of this article, but he can be a reliable quarterback in the NFL depending on where he lands in the draft if he chooses to go that route.
Shedeur Sanders
The son of current Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur has built quite the career in college on offense as the quarterback for Jackson State and Colorado. With his father Deion right at his side, he will become a superstar in the NFL when he jumps to the next level. Regardless of how the Colorado Buffaloes finish the season as of Oct. 3, Sanders is a winner now and will win more in the NFL.
Shilo Sanders
The brother of Shedeur Sanders, Shilo also followed his father, Deion, from Jackson State to Colorado. It’s only a matter of time until we start hearing about Shilo Sanders making multiple Pro Bowls in the near future when or if he’s in the NFL. It also helps that Shilo is a defensive back (safety) similar to his father who played cornerback in the NFL. Be very afraid of what Shilo Sanders can achieve in the NFL opposing wide receivers!
Antonio Gates Jr.
Unlike his father Antonio Gates Sr. (who played college basketball at Kent State and made it to the NFL as an undrafted free agent), Gates Jr. is playing his collegiate football at Michigan State as a wide receiver. Don’t be surprised if Gates Jr. makes a strong impact in the NFL like his father did during his Hall of Fame career.
Brendan Rice
The son of Jerry Rice, Brendan Rice was a standout wide receiver at the University of Colorado. Rice did transfer out of Colorado for Pac-12 rival USC for the 2022 season. During Rice’s first season with the Trojans, he caught 39 receptions for 611 yards and scored four touchdowns. Rice is only going to get better from there. He has a lot of potential to break records in the NFL similar to what his father accomplished.
Cristian Driver
The son of five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Donald Driver. Cristian Driver is a wide receiver for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Back in his high school days, Driver was coached by former Dallas Cowboys tight end, Jason Witten, at Liberty Christian High School in Argyle, TX. Penn State head coach James Franklin was also Driver’s father’s wide receiver coach while he was with the Green Bay Packers during the 2005 NFL season. So coaching Donald’s son makes perfect sense for why Franklin recruited him to Penn State. Look out for Cristian Driver to make an impact on an NFL team in the near future!
Mason Taylor
The son of Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor, Mason is a tight end for the LSU Tigers. Taylor made headlines for the Tigers when he caught a game-winning two-point conversion against SEC rival, the Alabama Crimson Tide, in a 32-31 statement victory his freshman year. Taylor has the makings to be a great and successful NFL tight end for teams needing pass protection and a good receiver target in the very near future.
Christian Harrison
The son of two-time Super Bowl Champion Rodney Harrison. Harrison is following in his father’s footsteps as a defensive back for the University of Tennessee. Harrison had nine tackles during his freshman year with the Vols. Harrison looks to continue to get better with time. It is very likely that he will be making some of the best interceptions in the NFL against opposing offenses like his father did.
When it comes to the NFL legends…these apples are not falling far from the proverbial tree!
