Today is a sad day in the football world after news came down that former University of Texas-El Paso tight end and former Texas a&M walk-on Luke Laufenberg lost his battle with cancer on Thursday morning.
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Babe Laufenberg confirmed his death in a statement released on Twitter.
“Today we lost a son, a brother, a friend, and a warrior. Have never seen a person battle like Luke Laufenberg, but he lost his fight with cancer. He was truly inspirational. The hole in our hearts will never be filled. You are my hero. RIP my sweet Luke. See you on the other side,” his father said on Twitter.
Doctors diagnosed Luke with a rare form of cancer around Christmas 2017, but then would declare him cancer free just a few months later in 2018.
Laufenberg’s cancer returned in 2019, ultimately finding out in July that his condition was terminal.
