New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas isn’t doing a lot of catching these days, but he’s still making lots of money.
According to a source cited by ESPN, Thomas agreed to a restructured contract on Friday that will take his base salary for 2023 down from $15.5 million to $1.65 million while adding a roster bonus of $31.755 million for the 2024 league year. The latter will become fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2023 league year, March 17.
As mentioned above Thomas hasn’t been doing a lot of catching lately. He has only made 16 of them this season due to injury and, over the past three terms, made just 56. Thomas has played 10 games over the period, having missed 2021 in its entirety. So that’s 40 receptions from 2020 and 16 this season.
Since then, he’s made around $50 million, which means he’s earned close to $900,000 per catch.

Thomas also received a signing bonus as part of the restructured deal on Friday. New Orleans has restructured his deal a few times since he signed the original.
