On Sunday, Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith was cleared for football activity and activated off the physically unable to perform list, the team announced, which capped a remarkable recovery from a leg injury that nearly cost him his life.
The team announced the roster move Sunday morning.
Less than 24 hours before the announcement, Smith’s wife, Elizabeth, posted a video on Instagram of Smith’s family spraying him with champagne. She wrote, “Hard work pays off! Lots to celebrate in the Smith house tonight.”
That video above made the rounds on different social media platforms and not many people liked what they saw when they saw him walking.

Smith broke the tibia and fibula in his right leg in a November 2018 game against Houston. Because of an infection, Smith required 17 surgeries, and doctors not only worried about the possibility of his leg being amputated but also feared for his life.
In 13 years, Smith has started 161 games and thrown 193 touchdowns and 101 interceptions.
