It can’t be easy being a Raiders fan. The team was a laughingstock for a while, and even though they’ve gotten a lot more competitive in recent years, they’re still finding ways to inflict misery upon their supporters.
The latest such case came this afternoon, when the Raiders appeared to have their first victory of the season in the bag as a late third quarter field-goal put them ahead of the Arizona Cardinals, 23-7. At that point, things were looking so good for the team that some of their fans could even be seen celebrating with champagne in the stands.
It was an awfully premature celebration that came back to haunt them, as Kyler Murray led the Cardinals on two fourth quarter scoring drives — and they converted both two-point conversions to erase the 16 point deficit and send this game into overtime.
And from there, the Cardinals defense was able to force a Hunter Renfrow fumble, which Byron Murphy Jr. picked up and returned for the game-winning touchdown.
As soon as the Raiders’ choke job became official, Twitter quickly recalled the celebrating fans and reminded them of their foolishness.

Seriously, though. Have these people never watched an NFL game before? Do they not understand that no lead is safe — especially a two score lead where there’s over a quarter of football remaining?
You’d think Raiders fans would know not to take anything for granted by now… Guess not.
Following an 0-2 start, Vegas will now try to get into the win column when they travel to Tennessee for a road game against the Titans next week.
