The entire football world woke up in shock this morning, as footage was making its rounds on the internet of former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees being struck by lightning while filming a promo in Venezuela.
The footage shows Brees standing in a storm while the crew around him prepares for the shoot when suddenly a blinding strike of lightning illuminates the sky and sends everyone scrambling.
Everyone immediately began to scramble in an attempt to figure out whether this whole incident was real of just some sort of promotional gimmick.
After contacting the necessary sources, it was learned that Brees was safe and able to avoid any lightning bolts.
Brees himself also released a statement, telling his fans that he’s fine while taking a slight jab at the rival Atlanta Falcons in the process.

Pointsbet Sportsbook, who was filming the promo with Brees for their site, also released a statement on the matter, saying they were monitoring the situation and at this stage they had “no further comment.”
