FOX commentator Greg Olsen is set to receive a heavy demotion for the upcoming 2024 season, and it’s all because of Tom Brady.
Olsen has been the top color football commentator at FOX, but that is going to change once Tom Brady begins working for the company, with the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback signing a 10-year deal with the network before he retired.
The former NFL all-pro may have already received that demotion just based on a recent picture.
Fox’s Charissa Thompson recently took to her Instagram and posted a picture of the NFL on Fox team enjoying some fun at the beach. You could see Curt Menefee, Michael Strahan, Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Johnson, Erin Andrews, and even Tom Brady.
Most notably, Greg Olsen was not in this picture.
“No shortage of laughter or athleticism with this crew …we had ourselves a time, off the grid,” Thompson wrote.

Fans took notice of Olsen not being on the beach with the crew:
Olsen may be getting ousted by Tom Brady, but he confirmed to The Charlotte Observer’s Alex Zietlow that he’s still with FOX and could work games as part of a different team during the 2024 season.
“We’re still working through all of that,” Olsen said. “Right now, I’m still under contract with FOX. So obviously that’s still on the table to go back and call games with FOX, albeit on a different crew, assuming that Tom, obviously, is going to come. We’ll sort that out through the rest of the offseason in the spring.”
He made it clear that his desire to work the most meaningful NFL games “is never going to change.”
“I want to get back to calling Super Bowls and NFC championship games and the premier matchups of every week like I have done the last two years,” Olsen said. “And we’ll see what opportunities arise to try to make that a reality.”
Greg Olsen reportedly makes $10 million a year as Fox’s lead commentator, a figure that will drop to $3 million this year. Losing the money is not all that bad, as Olsen made north of $70 million in NFL career earnings across his 14-year tenure in the league, per Spotrac.

Tom Brady Signed a $375 Million Deal to Be a Fox Sports Analyst
Brady’s enormous 10-year, $375 million contract as Fox’s primary color analyst will begin in the 2024–2025 season. On Fox’s feature game each week, Brady—who will soon become the highest-paid sports commentator ever—will assist lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt.
Prior to the start of what was his final NFL season, Brady agreed to that deal with Fox Sports in May 2022.
When Brady does enter the booth for the 2024 NFL season, he’ll have some big shoes to fill, as Olsen has drawn rave reviews while developing a solid on-air rapport with Burkhardt.
