Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni raised some eyebrows with a post-game comment regarding quarterback Jalen Hurts following the team’s Divisional Round victory over the New York Giants.
While speaking to the media, the second-year head coach said on Hurts that it’s similar to “having Michael Jordan out there”, per Jeff Skversky:
Comparing the majority of professional athletes to Jordan, the consensus pick for the greatest NBA player of all time, is quite the stretch. Jordan was obviously in his own class of greatness, after all. So as you could guess, social media had a lot to say on Sirianni’s Hurts-Jordan comparison.

Among active NFL quarterbacks, it’s probably only fair to compare seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes (the NFL’s best active player) to Jordan. But if Hurts can lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl 57 championship, he’ll definitely have helped back up Sirianni’ words.
The Eagles are in the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 2017 season, when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings en route to a Super Bowl 52 championship.
