Hundreds of thousands of fans have packed the downtown area of Detroit, Michigan, for round one of the 2024 NFL Draft.
This marks the first time in history that the NFL Draft is being held in the Motor City. Last year’s event was held at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, and the 2025 Draft will be held at the Green Bay Packers’ historic venue of Lambeau Field.
Brian McCarthy, who works public relations for the NFL, shared a jaw-dropping photo of the Detrot crowd just two hours before the draft commenced. McCarthy started at the time that there were 150,000 fans present for the draft.
Here’s how social media reacted to the mind-blowing photo:

Yep, Motor City is ready to party tonight.
The Lions, coming off their first trip to the NFC Championship Game in 32 years, hold the No. 29 selection in the draft. Obviously, that’s a welcoming change for Detroit fans who have grown all too used to their team picking in the top-10 over the past 30 years, with the majority of those picks becoming giant busts.
The 2024 NFL Draft Should Be Epic
There’s no mystery that Caleb Williams will be taken first overall by the Lions rivals, the Chicago Bears. But there will be plenty of surprising blockbuster moves that promise to shake up the draft considerably.
The New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are among the teams that may try to trade up for a quarterback. It was reported earlier today by Dianna Russini of The Athletic that the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers both want to trade up, with star wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel potentially on the trade block.
So with the 2024 NFL Draft finally upon us, let the series of blockbuster moves ensue.
