The New York Jets made a surprising move to fire head coach Robert Saleh five games into the 2024 season with a 2-3 record, and fans are already hoping that this will lead to the franchise hiring Bill Belichick.
Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who is spending the 2024 season working as a broadcaster and analyst, hasn’t seen his name buzzing like this since his former team decided not to bring him back following his legendary run.
Unfortunately for New York Jets fans dreaming of bringing Belichick into the fold, they should look back at a video from 2018.
Towards the end of ESPN’s 30 for 30, “The Two Bills” documentary, Parcells and Belichick made it clear that they wanted nothing to do with going inside the Jets locker room.
“Not the Jets’ locker room,” Bill Belichick says with disgust in his voice.

“I’m not going in there,” Parcells says emphatically. “I don’t want to go in there. What’s the point?”
Parcells spent four seasons with the Jets from 1997 to 2000. He went 9-7, 12-4 and 8-8 as the coach.
When Bill Belichick took over, he left the team on bad terms when he resigned after 24 hours and headed to New England.

Bill Parcells Explains Why He And Bill Belichick Refused to Go Inside New York Jets Locker Room
Back in 2018, folks had a lot to say while watching the premiere of “The Two Bills,” which was the ESPN documentary on the relationship between Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick.
There was a scene in which both legendary coaches, after sitting for a lengthy interview inside the New York Giants’ locker room at MetLife Stadium, refused the director’s request to visit the Jets’ locker room.
“Here’s what happened,” he said. “We’d been there for quite a while, and we knew we were pretty much done with the interview. They were just wanting to get more footage. Bill had a car waiting for him, and I was ready to go. I remember, he was anxious to go and so was I, really.
“It was like, ‘Where are they taking us now?’ That’s when we realized they wanted to take us down there, and we just didn’t want to go. It wasn’t anything against anything. It was just time.”
