Social media detectives thought the Philadelphia Eagles had someone special looking out for them on Sunday.
The Eagles are headed back to the Super Bowl after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023, having advanced via a 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
Philly fans celebrating right now. Sadly, there’s one special fan who’s not around to do so anymore.
Kobe Bryant, a Philly native and a lifelong Birds fan, died in a helicopter crash five years ago to the day. Plenty of social media users thought he was looking out for the team on the anniversary of his passing.
“Never forget how much Kobe Bryant loved his Philly Eagles,” a fan shared. “You can say their second Super Bowl berth in three years on the 5th anniversary of his death is heaven sent. RIP.”

The Philadelphia Eagles Were Kobe’s Team
While Kobe Bryant meant everything to the city of Los Angeles after spending his entire NBA career with the Lakers, he had his roots in Philly and would have really enjoyed their win today.
Unfortunately, the victory came five years after the five-time NBA champion was killed along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven other people.
May they continue to rest in peace.
