It’s not often social media is up in arms over a 911 operator, but when it’s connected to a highly known athlete, it tends to get a lot of attention.
The audio from the 911 call placed by Ashley Moss, the wife of former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman, came out this week and it absolutely pissed everyone off who listened to it.
“I need officers to my house now,” Moss told the 911 operator. “My husband is drunk and threatened to kill himself.”
The call lasted over two minutes and shows Moss desperately demanding police attention as the operator sounds like a person who is truly unconcerned and has an attitude that is not warranted for the situation at hand.
“He’s being aggressive. He has sent text messages,” Moss continued. “… He’s trying to leave now, the house. He’s being aggressive. He’s wrestling with my uncle. He’s threatening to kill himself. He’s sent text messages to people saying he’s going to hang himself.”

Moss added: “And he’s saying that if the police show up — please don’t shoot, is what I’m asking. … He said that if the police show up that he’ll try to fight them.”
“At this time we’re going to make no statements, except he didn’t harm anybody,” Moss told The Seattle Times. “My kids were not harmed in the incident. He’s a good person and this is not his character. We’re doing alright, just trying to get him out. I want people to know no one was injured.”
The NFLPA released a statement saying: “We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”
A five-time Pro Bowler, Sherman spent the last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers but missed much of the 2020 season because of a calf strain. He was released in February.
