Former ESPN and FS1 sports media personality Skip Bayless isn’t at all thinking about retirement, even as his 73rd birthday approaches.
In a surprise move, Skip Bayless left FS1 in August after hosting their “Undisputed” program for eight years. The show was canceled following Bayless’ departure, and the polarizing personality remains a free agent amid NCAA football and NFL season.
Love or hate Bayless, the man knows how to bring in strong viewership and followings for his work placement. He’s the king of controversial hot takes, and even though few agree with what Bayless has to offer, there’s no denying his success in audience engagement.
During an interview with Ben Strauss of The Washington Post, Skip Bayless made it clear that retirement is not an option. Bayless, who turns 73 in December, wants to continue working in sports media.
“Now he is focused on his own grand plans. He wants to create a digital network for a YouTube channel. He’s already got his weekly solo show, but he is planning to add an interview show and a debate show. He said he’s considering five or six different debate partners, though he declined to name names.”

Bayless expressed unhappiness to Strauss over the departure of former “Undisputed” co-host Shannon Sharpe in the summer of 2023. Though they got into non-stop heated arguments on television, they constantly delivered strong ratings for FS1.
Skip Bayless’ program saw a massive drop in viewership once the Pro Football Hall of Famer left FS1. Sharpe later joined ESPN’s “First Take” show, which Bayless previously hosted with Stephen A. Smith.
FS1 offered a new lineup following Bayless’ departure this summer, including two new programs: “Breakfast Ball” with Craig Carton, Mark Schlereth and Danny Parkins, “The Facility” with LeSean McCoy, Emmanuel Acho, James Jones and Chase Daniel.
Joy Taylor was also assigned to “Speak” (previously called “Speak for Yourself” with former NFL star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson and Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce.
Skip Bayless Has A Strong Audience
Bayless has over 3.2 million followers on X/Twitter and more than 177,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel. With a large audience and following, he won’t have a problem starting up a new show.
