We have heard some shocking things come from Skip Bayless in the past, but this one has to take the cake when he spoke about Baker Mayfield.
The Fox Sports host claimed that he has heard from a “very good source” that the “black players” of the Browns have “turned” on their QB Baker Mayfield.
“He [Mayfield] did a couple of sit-down interviews in which he said, ‘yea, we have some issues in our locker room,’” Bayless explained Friday during his show with Shannon Sharpe, “Skip And Shannon: Undisputed.”
“He didn’t go into specifics,” he added. “I have a very good source there, who told me that several of the black players, the better black players, let’s call them the Black leaders on the team, have turned on Baker because they love [Odell Beckham Jr.].”
“They just blame Baker for Odell’s departure,” Bayless continued. “Like, ‘we lost him because of you?’ In the end, it came across like you couldn’t click with him and he had to go and now he’s a Ram … they’re in awe of his talent obviously. It didn’t reach fruition with Baker for whatever reason.”
The jury is still out on whether Baker Mayfield can be the man to lead Cleveland to the next level, as he did last season when he led the team to the playoffs and defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round.

The team came in with high expectations in 2021 and it did not work out well as Baker has battled numerous injuries and when he did play, he did not do that very well.
According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Mayfield may consider a trade request if he isn’t reassured on changes that he believes need to be made before the 2022 season. One of the issues is reportedly coach Kevin Stefanski’s play-calling and whether Mayfield is put into a position to succeed.
Mayfield addressed the report in a tweet Thursday.
“Clickbait. You and many other Cleveland local media continue to be drama stirring reporters with no sources or facts. Don’t put words in my mouth so you can put food on your table. I’m not your puppet,” he wrote.
